Web9 Mar 2010 · just installed a trickflow stage 1 cam and it sound great and good power but when i start the car WARMED UP it wants to die and rpm dives to 500, i got to tap the gas for the first 30 sec or so then it surges from 1000 to 1500 and slowly goes down to 950 (idle screw on t/b wont let me go lower)

On a side note, my vacuum changes drastically depending on where my timing and idle fuel mixture are at. I time my engine without a light to highest idle vacuum. Great cam.....torque started right after 1000 rpms and was flatlined all the way to about 5800 rpms....which means it was fantastic for the street...no weird curves in the upper HP band. The lope was very mild though...not lopey enough for me..

Would obviously need a new transmission as well. That is something else to think about too, once you start getting into the mid 300rwhp range you have to start worrying about the T-5 letting go.

Someone will be all over you for wanting to choose a cam on how it sounds. Don't take it personally.
